I am a twenty-eight year-old Media Designer and Localization Specialist, living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with my girlfriend of 8 years, Presley. I've been working in web-related fields since 1998, and living in the Boston area since 1996.
"Nedward" is a psuedonym I use for personal weblogging, though it is a nickname given to me by my high school friends, many years ago. In July 2001, we organized a group weblog project, Suckahs.org, mostly to keep in touch, but also to explore this new "weblogging" concept with a group.
For some reason, we were featured in the Buffalo News' arts & entertainment weekly magazine Gusto, on December 31st, 2004:
HOT WEB RING: suckahs.org, a place where Williamsville East grads in their late-20s keep in touch from around the country.
Suckahs is mostly dead now, and we've all moved on.
Cambridge
We used to live inbetween Central and Harvard Squares, on a little stretch of Mass Ave that I like to call Shitty Modernist Building Way.
After being forced out by fire, in August 2001, we settled on a sleepy street in Cambridgeport, near the Charles River.
Some interesting things about Cambridge:
- History
- Demographics FAQ
- Harvard & MIT
- Cambridge Arts Council
- Rock n' Roll: Middle East, & TT The Bear's
Hobbies
I own a 1979 Vespa P-200 scooter, and enjoy riding and going to rallys.
I know very little about fixing and maintaining it, so thankfully I have friends.
Some Links:
I own a Rickenbacker guitar, and yes, I only play barre chords with it.
Someday, I will start a band, and rule the world.
Philosophy & Politics
Maybe I'm a left-ish secularist. Maybe I believe that if there is a God, he/she must be so distant that he couldn't possibly be concerned with the welfare of human beings. Besides, if he/she is infinitely perfect, then the last place he would be is here on earth. And, maybe I don't think that's particularly nihilistic or bad- it means that human beings have a responsibility to take care of themselves, and to help those who cannot. Maybe that means that superstition is not so super, and ritual only useful so far as it helps the individual find his/her place in the community & cosmos.
Maybe I hold controversial positions on public policy. And no, I don't have the Clintonian-approved knee-jerk liberal response to everything. Maybe it all boils down to genetics, demographics and, yes, and IQ. And, maybe, public policy should reflect a theory of justice because those three things do not come as the result of an individual's actions.
