I've been looking for a good menu controller for iTunes, and it's been a difficult search. I tested many apps, including "QuickTunes":http://opensoft.fre3.com/index.php?page=products, "You Control Tunes":http://www.yousoftware.com/itunes/, and "Synergy":http://synergy.wincent.com/. Each has its relative strengths and weaknesses, but I just couldn't get everything I wanted in one package:
* Display track info on the menubar
* Unobtrusive design, that blends with my OS X theme
* Global keyboard shortcuts
* Pop-up floater with track info and album art
* Solid app, that doesn't crash
In the end, I decided to go with The Little App Factory's "M-Beat":http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/application.php?app=M-Beat, which satisfies all of these requirements, and includes support for skinning "themes":http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/software/mbeatthemes.php.
This bit of customization was the clincher, because I wasn't satisfied with the way the default "look" integrated in my menu. So, I created a theme to match my "Milk":http://www.maxthemes.com/themes/?theme=Milk OS X theme:

*
"Download Milky":http://ned.suckahs.org/junkie/Milky.mbeatskin.zip theme for M-beat
* "Little App Factory":http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/ : "M-Beat":http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/application.php?app=M-Beat - $7
* "Milk":http://www.maxthemes.com/themes/?theme=Milk theme for OS X, created by Max Rudberg for Unsanity's "ShapeShifter":http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/shapeshifter
