Rolling Stone & Us Weekly (Wenner Media)
Design Concepts
Rethink weblog designs for RollingStone.com, and USmagazine.com. This exercise serves mostly to exhibit my design thinking, and ability to work within an established brand. I considered each element, and tried to give it a fresh treatment, without completely throwing out the original look and feel.
- Rolling Stone Rock & Roll Daily – Established a visual hierarchy through creation of a grid. Created a two-tier organization of content, grouping topics into high-level parent “categories”, while capturing the more granular classification with “tags”. Design of logotype and tagline were refreshed.
- US Weekly Celebrity News – This site had a lot more real estate to work with, so I kept the given proportions. I wanted to open up the blog logotype a bit, since there are so many boxes elsewhere on the page. Adding some white space there and on the heading below the main feature helps to do that.
